Soul, the Immortal Essence of our life.

If soul is real or not is a debate which is going on for ages. Personally I believe and know from experiences that yes it does exist. Life after death, it is real and not just idea passed on by spiritual wise men.

I know many would raise the question about its proof. But the same could be raised for many things already proved by science. There are so many things in this universe which is far off from human touch distance. Take the planets or moon. Just scraps from their surface or the light rays from them are taken into consideration to reach conclusion about their formation.
How can they be so sure that a planet is same inside as it is on the top? Science has always dismissed the presence of soul. But they could neither explain properly “Near Death Experiences”. This article tells in more details about the same.

The problem lies in understanding the nature of self, the “I” in existence which we always feel.

But when you think rationally, you realize there has to be something inside us which is more powerful. The mysteries that surround life and death, the mild consciousness even when we are dreaming, and so many other common mental operations such as imaginations and all, they all suggest there do exist a vital force which is independent of the body.

A soul is not a theory. You can't prove it exists. However to say "You can't prove it, so it doesn't exits!" is not correct. Absence of evidence is not necessarily evidence of absence.

People have felt something, a vibration or maybe even had an objective experience, one where they experienced something that exceeds the mundane, that is beyond the organic limitations of the body, a level of consciousness that far exceeds what they are at this level. One could say that the Soul is the source of their consciousness. Consciousness is not limited to the body, one’s consciousness exist a part from the body. We have different levels of consciousness, your Soul is the Source of what you are in this world, it represents the Real you. Soul is our Immortal Essence that connects and communicates with all other life. It is the real me in the sense of my identity but not my personality because I am playing a specific role that is learning and evolving. Eventually, through all the decision-making and learning, my personality will reflect my true essence of Love and Light.

In Gita there the Lord tells us about soul.

Bhagavat Gita, Chapter 2, Verse 17.

avinasi tu tad viddhi
yena sarvam idam tatam
vinasam avyayasyasya
na kascit kartum arhati

Meaning: Know that which pervades the entire body is indestructible. No one is able to destroy the imperishable soul.

This is again confirmed in our upnishad.

balagra-sata-bhagasya satadha kalpitasya ca,
bhago jivah sa vijneyah sa canantyaya kalpate.

Meaning: When the upper point of a hair is divided into one hundred parts and again each of such parts is further divided into one hundred parts, each such part is the measurement of the dimension of the spirit soul.

The same verse as stated in Upnishad is explained in Bhagavatam.

kesagra-sata-bhagasya satamsah sadrsatmakah
jivah suksma-svarupo 'yam sankhyatito hi cit-kanah.

Meaning: There are innumerable particles of spiritual atoms, which are measured as one ten-thousandth of the upper portion of the hair.

The constitution of the atomic soul is admitted in all Vedic literatures, and it is also actually felt in the practical experience of man at different times. The influence of the atomic soul can be spread all over a particular body. According to the Mundaka Upanisad, this atomic soul is situated in the heart of every living entity. The individual atomic soul is there in the heart as per our vedic literature. Thus all the energies of bodily movement are emanating from this part of the body. Medical sciences also admit that the heart is the seat of all energies of body.

Most certainly our Soul is our Immortal Essence that connects and communicates with all other life. It is the real me in the sense of my identity but not my personality because I am playing a specific role that is learning and evolving.
